The (8) Foot Wide STUDIOS PDQ Instant Home Studios System is fully freestanding and is completely Wall Mounting capable. This system is perfect for almost every video-conferencing need. Certainly anyone who is also using OBS (Open Broadcast Software) will benefit from the wider frame.
OBS platforms allow you to ‘key’ in the screen and extend the frame so that the virtual backdrop can appear to be extremely wide. There are terrific territorials online to help you understand the ways to integrate OBS software into many other videoconferencing platforms.
The majority of people across the United States are currently using platforms like Microsoft Teams or Zoom for their video conferencing needs. Both of those platforms are very good and each has settings that allow you to drop in a customized image that can brand your company or place you in any number of ‘virtual’ backdrop locations.
That being said, there are some limitations to what the Zoom or Microsoft Teams virtual image settings can do to make you look professional, polished and picture perfect if you are not also using a professional grade Chroma-key fabric behind you.
As discussed in other parts of this website, the use of these “virtual” images by themselves and without a professional grade Chroma-key fabric backdrop reduces the definition of both the virtual image and the person in front of the virtual image. Too often the person and the image without that fabric makes the person appear almost holographic; worse, the person can so badly pixelate during the call that his or her movements seem like flames streaking across the screen.
The STUDIOS PDQ Instant Home Studios System ensures that both you and your customized virtual image look perfectly crisp and distinctly separate at all times. The wider frame permits you to move around with ease and have the freedom to express yourself without blending into your background or fading directly into or out of it.
The (8) Foot Wide System is perfect those who are presenting in larger spaces or with multiple people. When using the 8 Foot width without the use of an OBS platform you will need to ensure that the webcam is zoomed in to not include anything beyond a 6 Foot Width.
The settings for “virtual” backdrops with platforms like Zoom or Microsoft Teams, when using professional Chroma-key fabric for higher definition projection, will require you to focus your webcam lens to the width of 8’ at a maximum. For instance, if your webcam is zoomed so far “out” that it focuses beyond the 8’ wide parameter of your System’s frame then your virtual backdrop will also show whatever is beyond the lens in your non-virtual setting! This is why it is advisable to log into Zoom, Microsoft Teams or whatever platform you are using prior to the call to ensure that your “zoom” is set to the proper setting.
The 8’ System is likely the largest size fame that you will need whether working from home or office; it is likely larger than the full length of most workstations and therefore provides a lot of space to move around when expressing yourself during a presentation. It also allows you to decide how close you want your image to be in focus; the wider backdrop gives you the flexibility to show a much wider backdrop as you sit comfortably away from your camera. When using the 8’ Wide System you will likely not have to worry about ever exceeding the zoomed-out focus of your webcam lens.
Additionally, when using the 8’ Wide system as a freestanding unit in your home office or in your conference room will provide ample space for multiple people to present against the same branded virtual background. As with all of the STUDIOS PDQ Instant Home Studio Systems, this 8’ System can also be easily wall mounted at home or at the office.
The 8’ System is also physically scalable in overall height as follow: 5’4, 6’4 and 7’4 respectively. The height conversions are achieved by integrating the various colored ‘base’ posts into the pre-assembled feet. The three different post heights are as follows:
- Yellow: 1’ Base Post for a total height of 5’4”
- Black: 2’ Base Post for a total height of 6’4”
- Green: 3’ Base Post for a total height of 7’4”
