The integrity of the engineering of the STUDIOS PDQ system guarantees that our solid PVC frame will not torque/bend or break over time. This sturdy PVC material will keep your frame consistently stable; we also added a center post and center leg for the 8-foot wide STUDIOS PDQ system for additional stability.

As you will discover, the chroma-key foam fabric is easily attached to the sturdy frame via heavy duty rubber tipped clamps. The rubber tips on the clamps are there to protect the fabric (or vinyl if you choose a banner during tradeshows) and to ensure that you don’t tear or crimp the media backdrop. There is the potential for crimping or slight damage might of the hanging media might occur over time if using plastic, non-rubber tipped clamps.

How The STUDIOS PDQ Instant Home Studios System Protects Your Privacy.

We have now come to expect that video calls with our family, friends, co-workers, clients and teachers is the new normal. However, what most of us were not prepared for was that these video calls would be quite frequent, involve so many different levels of individuals and showcase our personal space.

In some instances people have found themselves interfacing over video with a colleague only to then have to transition into a parent-child teacher conference. Even weirder might be a group chat with the parents of all of the students who were all, unexpectedly, in your home (so to speak)!

Protecting Privacy with a StudiosPDQ Instant Studio

While some people claim that their number one fear is public speaking there are still others who dread having their private lives and their ‘home’ on display for, essentially, perfect strangers. Yet, as we have all realized with the advent of the ubiquitous video call, our homes have been opened up for inspection whether it’s for work or school. Our once private sanctuaries are now being telegraphed to our co-workers, clients, classmates and more.

In other words, not only are we on display via the video conference call but the same can be said for our personal and private living space. Our living space is now communal. How does our Chroma-Key Foam and nylon backed fabric compare to other fabrics?

STUDIOS PDQ has selected a premium grade chroma-key fabric. This lustrous nylon reinforced fabric is the highest rated green screen chromakey backdrop and is used by special effects artists in the entertainment industry and Hollywood and Disney production studios.

Here are some of the incredible benefits of using the STUDIOS PDQ chroma-key foam fabric:

The foam-backed fabric is superior because of its versatility, durability, thickness, color vibrance, softness and overall strength;
The fabric has a three-layer laminated design;
The distinct fabric layers include a foam core center with a nylon mesh backing and chroma key diffusion ‘face’;
The nylon backing provides strength and flexibility making it almost impossible to tear;
The foam core center allows it to stretch and also bounce back from any wrinkles/creases;

Why does STUDIOS PDQ use Chroma-Key fabric?

Chroma-Key Fabric for Durable Instant Home Studios For quite some time, the ‘green screen’ has been the go-to backdrop for people in media, the entertainment industry, photographers, ‘streamers’ and, believe it or not, gamers! Streamers and gamers are huge ‘green screen’ users because they can project themselves into their gameplay or they can use it to create any backdrop setting imaginable while streaming.

There is also some terrific software in the marketplace that will permit a person to use a fairly narrow (height/width) green screen that can be configured to incorporate a larger green screen. At the same time, the various widths of the STUDIOS PDQ system allow you to determine how much space that you would like to have ‘camouflaged’ in your home office or home schooling environment.

Unfortunately, there are issues related to “camouflaging” the entire home office/environment whenever using a smaller width/lower height green screen/chroma-key background. If it is your intention to ensure that the entire “virtual image” is in high definition then you need to ensure that your camera lens is only as “wide” as your green screen area. This means that you will want to select a frame width that complements the amount of area you want to camouflage without having to have the camera directly in your face.

For instance, if you are working at your dining room table on a a video call and you have selected a 4 foot wide screen, then you will want to ensure that your video camera has zoomed in so that the lens does not pick up anything beyond that 4 foot width. To camouflage the entire background with a high definition image, you have two options: either increase the width of your green screen/chroma-key OR increase the focus of the camera by zooming in on you. Otherwise, whatever it is that falls outside of the width of the green screen will be visible to your audience.

You will also want to keep in mind that if you are someone who likes to back away from the camera lens so your face is not 75% of the participant screen, then a wider frame would be the better option. While some people might be very comfortable with a screen that is 4 feet wide, others might like the security of having 6 feet or 8 feet of space completely covered. Gamers can often get away with a 4-foot width as they will also often use a third-party software that they can program to ‘read’ a larger width.

When using video platforms that have the “virtual screen” built into their software, the resolution of the image and the participant is rarely very good. It’s not capable of projecting high-resolution graphics. We have all witnessed the limitations of using the “virtual image” feature when the participant does not have the proper backdrop fabric to enhance the image or himself/herself. In those instances where it is just a virtual image feature the visual imperfections during video calls are quite obvious.

It’s during those moments that the participant becomes almost holographic whenever he or she moves around; suddenly the person seems to be fading in and out of view or “streaking” with quasi-flames shooting off of the body! In fact, these ‘virtual’ green screen options when not using a proper backdrop cannot, will not, render a high definition image of either the ‘virtual image’ of the background or of the participant to prevent either from looking like a flaming hologram.

Over time this can become distracting as it loses the professionalism of what the call was meant to provide. As we move into a more standardized, normalized video call work culture, we truly need to step up our game. The StudiosPDQ Instant Home Studios System was created to make you look terrific while on video calls and to do that in minutes, or, as we say, pretty darn quick.

Just as important as it is to have the ability to set up a virtual home studio quickly and efficiently, it is just as critical that the System will not take up much space when not in use. Not everyone has an unlimited domestic footprint to leave his or her virtual studio System standing or wall mounted at all times; the storage box was designed with that in mind.

The heavy-duty cardboard box measures 4’ L x 12” W and 6” H; you can factor in an additional ½” for the box height due to the nylon straps and plastic buckles. There is one (1) Carry Strap with two (2) nylon straps for fastening and one (1) separate nylon strap to ensure that the center of the box flaps are secure.

The nylon straps are all adjustable and can be loosened and tightened to help fasten the snaps as well as to find the desired length of the strap that will go over your shoulder when transporting.

The low-profile of the 6” cardboard box height allows it to easily slip under most platform beds, futons and modern sofas with ease.

We suggest that when carrying the System that the long carry straps is positioned along the 6” spine of the box; you will want to ensure that the plastic buckles are positioned and fastened directly along the spine for ease of carrying. You will also want to ensure that the separate nylon strap is fastened in the center of the box to keep the cardboard flaps secure. This will also help to center the gravity of the storage box when transporting the System.

SHIELDING Your Privacy at Home

Protecting Your Child’s Privacy at Home We live in startling times in which we are on camera a great deal and our children are no exception to this new era of ‘digital disclosure on demand’. The StudiosPDQ Instant Home Studios System will ensure that your child’s private space remains hidden at all times.

While 2020 has forced many adults to communicate with coworkers via video conference calls from their new home office environments it has also required children to resume their classes online as well through regular teacher/student video calls.

Prior to 2020 it is unlikely that any parent would have ever permitted their young child to be on a video call, of any kind, while unsupervised. Not only has 2020 normalized the unsupervised video call between children, teachers and classmates but it has also opened children up to an invasion of privacy which is potentially problematic on many levels.

The virtual classroom has morphed from what was once a secondary option for obtaining an advanced degree to the daily routine for children as young as four and five who are now attending virtual kindergarten classes. Even the undergraduate and graduate scholastic campuses have gone from vibrant buzzing hallways of excitement to the confinement of a child’s bedroom walls.

The invasion of privacy into a child’s bedroom, even more than that of an adult’s work from home environment, is quite sensational on many levels. The fact that an adult, the teacher, can see directly into a child’s bedroom is bad enough; however, add to this the fact that there are potentially other adults who might be peering in during the video call as well.

If that wasn’t bad enough, there is also the potential for bullying based on the prying eyes of fellow students who might spy a particular toy, game or wall poster that doesn’t reflect what all the “cool” kids have in their rooms. What child hasn’t used their walls to celebrate their heroes, favorite musicians, actors and athletes? We all know how quickly pecking orders begin over insubstantial cues like that. No one but your child’s best friends and his or her family should ever have access to that information.

The StudiosPDQ Instant Home Studios System compensates for the height of a child by easily lowered the frame to ensure that it is closer to the ground. This is done by substituting the standard 2’ Black PVC base with the Yellow 1’ base; a child can set this system up in a matter of minutes and then tuck it away under his or her bed or in their closet.

Additionally, if the school software does not permit a virtual background, there are many options for the creation of a vinyl banner that can be used as your child’s permanent backdrop. These banners come in several sizes and will be attached to the StudiosPDQ Instant Home Studios System via the rubber tipped clamps.

Disassembling & Storing the System

How to disassemble the System and Properly Store the Parts & Pieces in the Storage Box:

The first step when dismantling the system and preparing the box for storage is to remove the green screen and fold it such that the final width is about 12-16” W;
ALL of the green screens are approximately 5’H which means that the length of the green screen, when folded, exceeds the length of the box. You will want to fold approximately 1’ of the fabric UNDER the folded fabric so that it will fit in the box;
Once folded properly, then place this at the bottom of the box;
Leave the Clamps OUT OF THE BOX until all of the PVC has been placed into the box;
Place whatever PVC legs that are currently in the box that were not used, i.e., GREEN, YELLOW or BLACK PVC “Legs” on top of the folded green screen;
You are now ready to dismantle the system. This is done from the top down;
The first pieces of PVC that you will disassemble that will go into the box on top of the green screen, will be the vertical 4’ BLACK PVC and followed by the horizontal WHITE PVC pipe;
Place the “L”, “T” and “Cross” (if using the 8’ Full System) connectors at the top and bottom of the box filling in the gaps between the PVC pipe;
Disassemble the “Leg” from the “Foot” (which makes up the base) and place these in the box to ensure that the “T” that connects in the center of the “Foot” will not obstruct the box flaps from closing;
Add in the “clamps” in the spaces that permit the ease of placement inside of the box; (images provided below)
Close the flaps of the box and ensure that no parts are obstructing the flaps from coming together at the center seam;
Add the straps and buckle them as demonstrated in this video so that the box can be stored properly until the next time that it is needed. (video embedded below)
